Dr. George Jackson is Chair of the Health Sciences department which includes the Pre-Med program at Weimar College. Although born and raised in California, he subsequently spent many years in Australia where he received his undergraduate degrees and PhD at James Cook University in Queensland Australia. Dr. Jackson, a prolific author, is enthusiastic about the opportunities at Weimar for training committed Christian young people to enter various health ministries for the Lord. Dr. Jackson has a background in Marine Biology and has served in post-doctoral and academic positions at the University of Otago, New Zealand, the University of Western Australia, James Cook University and the University of Tasmania. His research has taken him to tropical and temperate Australia, Thailand, Falkland Islands, Gulf of Mexico and California. In the last two years he has been based in British Columbia, Canada, where he has served as Senior Scientist for the Pacific Ocean Shelf Tracking (POST) project which is part of the decade long Census of Marine Life. Dr. Jackson’s wife Christine is an Australian from sunny Queensland and they have three children: Talisa 17, Adam 15 and Levi 9.
