Health Evangelism Leadership Program

Why Weimar College?

  • Cross train in health evangelism in collaboration with the NEWSTART® Lifestyle Program.
  • Study in the beautiful foothills of Northern California, an ideal location to spend time with God in nature.

Who is H.E.L.P. best suited for?

  • Graduates of intensive evangelism training programs.
  • Licensed health professionals (Massage Therapists, MD, RN, PT etc) who want to incorporate health evangelism into their day-to-day practices.
  • Individuals who want to become health evangelism leaders in their churches and communities.

What is the Program Like?

Our NEWSTART Global plan to reunite the health work with gospel ministry is anchored by H.E.L.P., an advanced program for training health evangelism leaders. The typical medical missionary program has been re-tooled, re-focused and re-centered around the NEWSTART Global paradigm. In addition to the standard training that is expected in a comprehensive program, H.E.L.P. participants are trained as leaders, proficient in the latest tools and techniques in health outreach. The capstone of H.E.L.P. training is the practical application component. We believe that learning happens best with real-world practical application.

H.E.L.P. Will Enable You To:

  • Lead one-time and on-going events that build a local church’s capacity for community health leadership.
  • Effectively maximize the number of health outreach interests that become actual Bible studies and/or evangelistic meeting attendees.
  • Use all available health outreach tools and resources with maximum impact.
  • Plan and launch health-focused motivational/inspirational weekends.
  • Lead teams that plan and launch effective health evangelistic events in the local community.
  • Direct a CHIP program.
  • Direct a Depression Recovery program.
  • Hold a cooking school.
  • Run a Reversing Diabetes seminar.
  • Design and implement a natural remedies seminar.

Topics of Study Include:

  • C.H.I.P. training
  • Depression Recovery training
  • Training for the soon-to-be-released NEWSTART 4D Program
  • Hydrotherapy and massage therapy
  • Leading a vegan cooking school

Here Are Some Things You Will Do During Your Training:

  • Plan and lead public health outreach campaigns.
  • Facilitate public health seminars.
  • Be actively involved in health evangelism activities including community health events, local mission trips, and personal health ministry in the community as well as in the NEWSTART lifestyle program.
  • Work with ministers, doctors and other health professionals to gain skills and experience in ministering to people.

Program Dates & Registration

Pre-Registration opens in January, 2012 and the first training session is tentatively scheduled to begin August 6, 2012.

About Weimar College

Weimar College exists to help our students gain a knowledge of God. This is the foundation of all true education and service. It is the only thing that can make us like God in character.* We have synthesized our understanding of the principles of true education into what we call “The Core of Four.”

Excellent Academics

Our purpose is to give you a thorough preparation that will enable you to render a life of excellent service to God.

Evangelistic Emphasis

It will take an army to finish all the work that needs to be done before Jesus can return. We are helping to train that army, and training begins now.

Health Education

We firmly believe that health is the entering wedge of the gospel, so we have made health evangelism a major component of our programs.

Practical Training

Relevance isn’t taught in a book. The most important things you will learn at Weimar will not be taught in a classroom. They will be experienced in real-world ministry.

Accreditation

To continually improve Weimar College, we are in the process of seeking regional accreditation through WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). This is an extensive process that will require a clearly defined mission as well as systematic processes and evidence that our mission is being lived out in our students. We think it is a good thing to be able to do these things well.

In fact, going through the accreditation process itself will strengthen and refine Weimar College’s focus and enhance our school’s ability to impart true education to our students. Until that process is complete, we are pleased to have good working relationships with many Adventist colleges and universities where many of our students and graduates have gone for further training.

Practical Training

{title} Weimar College recognizes the vital place of work in education. The practical training and work education program aims to give students a sense of pride in accomplishment, to contribute to character building, to prepare for the reality of life, and to teach practical skills. We believe that work is a vital part of the fabric of life, a human right and privilege. It’s part of our commitment to whole person education.

The education you receive from books and lectures begins a process that is completed by practical, hands-on learning. At the work site and in your weekly outreach you will be challenged to practice the classroom knowledge you have gained. Such activity encourages the development of observation and independent thought. The learning that takes place in work education is integrated with the learning that takes place in the classroom. Combining work with liberal arts, science, and religion classes will provide you with cognitive and practical tools to successfully address life’s challenges and opportunities. The record of your work performance will be a future recommendation toward employment.

Work Opportunities

As an integral part of Weimar Center of Health and Education, the College offers its students a variety of work opportunities. Students learn and practice work skills from 8 hours to 16 hours a week in culinary, maintenance, custodial, grounds, and various administrative departments. Students may also work in the academy, the library, and the NEWSTART® 18-day live-in health program managed by physicians and other health professionals, in the health food store and catalog business, the bakery, the Inn, and the farm.

Faculty

Our highly qualified faculty are passionate about seeing you become all God ordained you should be in His service. As older brothers and sisters in the faith, they will seek to guide your studies and personal growth in proven paths of success.

Music

The music department of Weimar College is designed “to serve a holy purpose, to lift the thoughts to that which is pure, noble, and elevating, and to awaken in the soul devotion and gratitude to God (Patriarchs and Prophets 594).” It is our goal to employ the gift of music to glorify God, not to exalt self. Through the music courses, we strive to cultivate the musical talents of individuals that they may become musical evangelists, using sacred music as a power to win souls to Christ (Evangelism 504). Currently, courses offered in the music department include College Choir, College Orchestra, and studio instruction in voice, piano, string instruments, and wind instruments. If it is your desire to hone your musical talents for God’s service we invite you to explore the opportunities for growth here at Weimar College.

Our Instructors

Dr. Rodney Abriol – Director of the Music Program

Academics

We endeavor to impart a knowledge of God to our students through harmonious development of their mental, physical, and spiritual faculties. To further this goal, Weimar College’s committed faculty provide rigorous academic courses. We believe that education must be relevant and practical. Our students graduate not just with the required knowledge, but with the ability to use that knowledge meaningfully in their life work. Our courses meet expected academic standards, challenging students to obtain an in-depth, practical knowledge of the subject, as well as leading students to a clearer knowledge of God. It is our prayer that our students will know God better, and be more fully prepared to serve Him, through each class they take.

“I want to obtain the best education possible…I not only want to prepare my life and career here on this earth, but also for life throughout eternity.” – Talisa, Pre-Med Freshmen

Health Sciences

image Weimar College’s Health Science Department is all about health evangelism. By educating young people to be medical missionaries qualified to work in the world’s best hospitals, or in the poorest village clinic, the department seeks to hasten the Lord’s return.

The Health Sciences Department trains students to serve in medical missionary work at a number of levels – from Certified Massage Therapists, to LVN/RN*, to Doctors (pre-professional training offered). In order to accomplish this, the department offers the traditional science courses needed by those preparing to serve in the medical field. In addition, students also take courses in natural healing remedies, diet and lifestyle-related health challenges, and practical training in health evangelism.

Our Programs

*NURSING UPDATE: Weimar College currently offers pre-nursing classes. In the spring of 2011, Weimar College submitted a feasibility study to the California Board of Registered Nurses (CBRN) to offer an A.S. in Nursing, leading to an R.N. We are pleased to announce that the CBRN has accepted our application, and we are currently working on our self-study. We are working hard to have the program up and running by Fall 2012. Please continue to pray for all of the details to be completed, including lab equipment, faculty, etc.

Religion

image The Religion Department seeks to provide solid intellectual development that will equip the student to grasp distinctive biblical truths relevant to Christ and His judgment hour message. The student will also be empowered for active soul-winning through practical training in visitations, Bible studies, and public evangelism. Our commitment is to foster ethical living through the harmonious development of the mind, body, and soul; and to equip the student with a strong biblical foundation within the context of the great controversy.
