Opportunity for outdoor activities is abundant. Without even leaving the campus you have access to miles of trails that wind through the school’s acres of forest and meadows. Weimar Institute is within easy distance of both the American and Bear rivers with many other lakes and streams in the vicinity, making swimming, whitewater rafting, and other water sports very popular during the warm months between late spring and early fall. The nearby Tahoe National Forest not only boasts incredible scenery, but also excellent backpacking, camping, and rockclimbing opportunities. Boreal Ski Resort is only 45 minutes away – which often has the longest ski season of any resort in the US – and offers affordable day and night skiing/snowboarding. The world-renowned ski resorts of Lake Tahoe are within an hour and a half drive.
