Congressman Kevin Kiley Visits Weimar University, Praises Holistic Health Education and Community Engagement
WEIMAR, CA – August 28, 2025 – Weimar University welcomed Congressman Kevin Kiley for a comprehensive campus tour that showcased the university’s unique approach to education, wellness, and service. His visit included sampling the university’s vegan culinary offerings, engaging with students and faculty, and learning about Weimar’s distinctive programs that integrate physical health, mental wellness, and community outreach.
During his tour, Congressman Kiley was introduced to a range of Weimar University’s programs and facilities:
- Emphasis on Physical Fitness: The university prioritizes fitness for both body and mind, noting that “physical fitness is actually better for our brain than it is for our body.” Professors over 60 years of age participate in the 72-mile Lake Tahoe run each October, reflecting the campus-wide commitment to an active lifestyle.
- Hydrotherapy and Music Therapy: Kiley explored Weimar’s innovative practices, including contrast baths—three minutes in hot tanks followed by one minute in cold tanks as low as 45 degrees. This twice-daily routine builds resilience, fosters camaraderie, and can temporarily normalize brain function for individuals with severe mental illness. He also learned about music therapy, which is used to stimulate the brain’s frontal lobe.
- Spa and Wellness Facilities: The campus spa provides hot and cold treatments, infrared and traditional saunas, and massage therapy. These treatments promote circulation, support overall health, and are being studied for their potential role in slowing tumor progression.
- Outdoor Amenities: With 15 miles of campus trails, Weimar promotes outdoor activity as a vital component of health. These trails remained open during COVID-19 to encourage immune-supporting exercise.
- Academic Excellence: Congressman Kiley learned about Weimar Academy, the university’s private high school, which offers dual enrollment opportunities for earning college credit. Weimar University reports a 94.6% acceptance rate into U.S. medical and dental schools and a 100% NCLEX pass rate. Students gain practical training through rotations at the Blue Stone Clinic, serving 50,000 patients annually, and at the Nedley Clinic, where they educate patients on chronic disease management. Student research has also been published and presented at prestigious institutions such as Harvard.
- The NEWSTART® Program: Kiley met with the director of Weimar’s renowned program, which emphasizes eight natural remedies: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust in God.
During lunch in the plant-based cafeteria, Congressman Kiley enjoyed dishes prepared by the university’s head chef. He learned about cooking classes designed to empower individuals to prepare healthy meals at home, a lifestyle change that has helped many participants achieve dramatic weight loss, often exceeding 100 pounds, while maintaining muscle mass.
In his remarks to students, Congressman Kiley expressed his admiration for Weimar’s mission. He said, “This is an incredible place… such a tremendously positive focus on things that we really need in our country today, like health.” He praised the university’s emphasis on mental and physical health, nutrition, exercise, and overall lifestyle, encouraging students to carry these habits into their communities.
Congressman Kiley also commended Weimar’s culture of service, highlighting its work with veterans on cemetery restoration projects. He urged students to maintain their commitment to service after graduation in order to “recover that spirit” nationwide. Acknowledging the university’s diverse and international student body, he expressed gratitude for those preparing for healthcare careers, noting they are receiving “the very best education” at Weimar. In a lighthearted moment, he added that he hoped many students would remain in his district, Placer County.
The visit concluded with a strong affirmation of Weimar University’s role in advancing holistic well-being, academic excellence, and community leadership.
