Christian Education Department Chair
Carolyn Ramirez is the chair of the Education Department. In addition to leading the education department with an excellent team, she also directs the Weimar Elementary School on campus. She has been working for Weimar University for the past seven years after arriving from Southern California in 2016.
She was born in New York City but has lived in multiple places, including campus colleges like Andrews University and Atlantic Union College. Her love for teaching began during those early years while observing her mother as a teacher. In 1995, she earned her BA degree in Education-Multiple Subjects Program from La Sierra University. Upon receiving her California teaching credentials, she moved to La Quinta, CA, to work at a low-income school teaching English and Spanish. Carolyn received her CLAD certification in 1998, which qualified her to work with ELL students. Additionally, she taught adults English as a second language for two years. After a few years in the field, she began working towards her master’s degree at Cal State University San Bernardino, where she earned a master’s degree in education in 2004. Carolyn continued working as a TRAC coach for her school and assisted with grading 4th and 7th-grade California state writing tests. In 2015, she took a job as a teacher at Desert Adventist Academy, and the following year, she accepted the teaching principal job at Weimar. Since then, Carolyn and her family have lived in Weimar for seven years. She and her husband, Ramon, enjoy time with their two boys, Diego and Julian, and she also enjoys reading, puzzles, and nature walks. She states that the experience of training young people to be teachers willing to serve the Lord in a rapidly growing mission field has been a blessing and rewarding for her.
